Direct Support Worker

The Direct Support Worker is responsible for supporting people with a disability and/or aged care clients who need low-level assistance to continue living independently in the community.
The role involves:
- Providing a range of services and support in accordance with the client’s individual need and goals. This may include providing transport, accompanying clients with shopping, home visits, helping them to connect within their community, monitoring medications and /or minor cleaning duties.
- Delivering services in a caring professional manner in accordance with Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Practice Standards, organisational policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Person centred care, empowerment and enablement principles are used when delivering services.
- Liaising and communicating in a responsive, respectful and professional manner with internal and external stakeholders including a wide range of clients with different needs and backgrounds.
- Record, document and report any incidents, changes, goals, needs, achievements, statements, actions and outcomes etc. in a consistent and clear manner that meets all legislative requirements and regulations.
- Maintaining a clean and safe workspace and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Attending and participating in training opportunities and team meetings as scheduled.
About You: We are looking for someone with a passion for community, a positive attitude who is flexible, reliable and committed to making a difference. With the following:
- Certificate III in Individual support or equivalent or currently undertaking study.
- First aid certificate (Provide First Aid and Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation) or willingness to obtain.
- Completed or willing to complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Module and the Code of Conduct for Aged Care.
- Capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job. (Manual handling tasks may include ability to reach forward lifting up to 16kg and pushing/ pulling wheelchairs.)
- Experience working with people over 65 and/or people with a disability is desirable.

Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following checks and clearances:
- NDIS Worker screening check and/or National Criminal History Record Check.
- Not listed on the Aged Care Register of banning orders.
Successful applicants must also have:
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use own vehicle with full comprehensive insurance cover for work purposes.
- Minimum of 2 approved COVID-19 vaccinations or a medical exemption.
- A mobile phone with a data plan and willingness to use it for work purposes.
